Dead Horse Ranch State Park

Overview: In 1950, the Ireys family came to Arizona
looking for a ranch to buy. The one with the dead horse in the road
caught the kids' attention. They bought the ranch, and the name
remains to this day.
Directions: Located on 10th Street in Cottonwood. Take I-17
north to Camp Verde, go west on SR 260 to Cottonwood and follow
signs. 
Facilities: Picnic area, tables and grills, showers,
hookups, stocked fishing pond, trails and the Verde River.
Rating: Very popular.
Elevation: 3,300 feet.
Season: Year-round.
