Here's an idea, put two inflatable rubber dams across the Salt River and create a lake. Voila!  Tempe Town Lake, with its wide multi-use paths, is a smash hit.  A great place to rent a boat, walk, run, bike or in-line skate.
After doing a loop around the lake, ride or skate north on the greenbelt to Scottsdale.<br>
<b>Route:</b> Easily accessable off Loop 202 and Scottsdale / Rural Road.<br>
<b>Recreation:</b> Boating, fishing, biking, hiking, in-line skating and people watching.<br>
<b>Dock:</b> Boat rides and rentals.<br>
