There are more than 16,000 acres of desert
lakes surrounding the Phoenix-metro area, including Roosevelt,
Apache, Canyon, Saguaro, Bartlett and Horseshoe reservoirs, and the
ever-popular Lake Pleasant.
Near Mesa, the
Lower Salt River is a bastion for tubing, swimming, and cooling
off, while in the high country scenic lakes, rivers and streams
wait for your fishing line, canoe, or bare feet.

Safety Tips
Before taking a
watercraft out, there are certain items which must be on board. The
first, and perhaps most important, are personal flotation devices
(PFD's). All watercraft, except sailboards, must be equipped with a
least one U.S. Coast Guard-approved PFD for each person on
board.
Children 12 years old or under must wear their PFD whenever the
watercraft is underway. Any person being towed behind a watercraft
shall wear a buoyant belt or personal flotation device while being
towed.
We highly recommed that you pick up a copy of the Arizona Boating
Guide or the Arizona Boating Laws and Regulations from any Arizona
Game & Fish office. Know Before You Go!
Take a Boating Education Class.

Watercraft Rentals
There are numerous watercraft rental establishments throughout the Valley, while others are located at area lakes. Most require a deposit ($300 range), but provide all your needs. Boat rentals run from $10 hourly to $350 per day. If visiting Saguaro or Canyon lakes, forego towing hassles by calling Precision Marine at 480-986-0969. If visiting Lake Pleasant, call Pleasant Harbor Marina 623-566-3100

Designate, Designate, Designate

A major danger on
today's waterways is the watercraft operator who is under the
influence of alcohol. In 1994, half of all U.S. recreational
boating fatalities were alcohol related.
A sober boater is a safe boater. Designate a sober driver.
