Route: Follow FR 416 past Buzzard Roost Camp to junction FR 486 (J.R. Ranch Rd.). Follow 486 down Buzzard Roost Canyon to junction with FR 609 and proceed to SR 288. FR 609 and FR 416 are about 6 miles apart. FR 416 crosses a perennial stream.
Length: 15 miles
Rating: More Difficult, FR 486 rough, requires 4WD.
Season: Late spring to early fall.
Scenery: Varies from grassland and meadows, to pine, intermittent riparian and chaparral vegetation. Due to the remote nature of this loop, you may want to overnight in a forest campground.
